About This Class
Ready to rent the Handi Quilter longarm but not sure where to begin? This hands‑on class gives you the skills and confidence you need before stepping up to the machine. You’ll learn how to operate the longarm safely, understand how it feels to quilt on a frame, and practice the essential steps for loading your quilt and troubleshooting common issues.
What We’ll Cover
- Free‑motion quilting basics
- Safe operation of the Handi Quilter longarm
- How to load your quilt onto the frame
- Understanding tension, needles, and thread
- Hands‑on practice to build confidence
Important Notes
This class is required before renting the machine. It’s important to begin quilting within one month of taking the class to retain what you learn.
If you do not use your included rental day within 30 days, a refresher class will be required. Please book your rental day at the same time you sign up for the class. Call or stop by the Machine Department to schedule.
Your class fee includes Longarm 101 (a four‑hour, hands‑on class), up to six hours of Handi Quilter rental (must be used within 30 days), and a starter kit of essential supplies. This is a great value and saves money over purchasing items separately.
The starter kit includes a bobbin case, three bobbins, a package of needles, and the leaders and special pins needed to quickly load your quilt. You’ll also receive 15% off additional recommended supplies purchased within 30 days of attending class.
