About This Class

You will learn the “parchment pressing” technique of fabric collage. Your beginning collage kit includes the Sunflower pattern, fabric pieces backed with Steam‑a‑Seam, and parchment paper. Kim will walk you through both free‑form cutting and tracing techniques—skills that apply to any collage pattern, including Laura Heine designs.

Kim has simplified the collage process into three basic steps: cutting, arranging, pressing. You’ll assemble your entire Sunflower on parchment paper and then lift and position it onto the background fabric of your choosing. This streamlined method eliminates the need for Pattern Ease or silicone mats and makes collage faster, easier, and more accessible.

Once you’ve learned this technique, you’ll be able to tackle larger collage projects by breaking them into manageable components.

Please note: Class time does not include quilting or binding your project. If you wish to fully finish your piece and plan to stay beyond the instructor’s scheduled time, consider bringing your sewing machine. A sewing machine is not required for the class itself.
