Confident beginner and up. Creating accurate 1/4" seams is helpful.
Create a striking 3D wall hanging that looks like the cubes are lifting right off the background! Using a thoughtful mix of light, medium, and dark fabrics, you’ll build a ring of interlocking hollow cubes that create an optical illusion of depth and movement. The result is bold, modern, and surprisingly achievable with simple, accurate piecing.
What We’ll Cover
In this workshop, Deborah will guide you through the color placement, value contrast, and piecing strategies that make this design pop. You’ll learn how to construct each cube unit cleanly and how to assemble them into the dramatic circular layout shown in the sample.
How to choose and position fabrics to create strong 3D dimension
Techniques for piecing angled units with crisp, clean intersections
Strategies for maintaining accurate seams throughout the cube construction
Tips for assembling the ring layout so the illusion stays consistent and smooth
