Join Deb Kalenty, a Studio 180 Design certified instructor, as she walks you through this easy (but complicated looking!) pattern.
Galaxy is a beautiful alternating block design using two types of blocks, each with a different color star. Because of the color placement and the different angles in the triangles, the interesting interlocking circles appear and the second star block disappears into the circles. What you see is a beautiful star set within a "curved" block--but no curves here!
It's a fun optical illusion, easy to make and even easier to admire.
This pattern is from Studio 180 Designs. You will learn to use two of the Tucker Tools: the V-Block and the Tucker Trimmer (aka the Tucker Trimmer 1). These particular tools are versatile and can be used on many different quilts.
Deb is joining us this week from the East Coast, where she is based. We are excited to bring her to the Pacific Northwest! She is also teaching another quilt class on Sunday, October 1: The Combo Weave. On Wednesday evening, September 27 at 6 pm, she is presenting a lecture and trunk show to the Snohomish Modern Quilt Guild. This meeting is open to everyone at no cost and will be at Quilting Mayhem.
