Tips and Tricks for Working with Cuddle

Cuddle minky is beautiful, soft, lush, warm and comforting. It is also messy when cutting, wiggle, stretchy – it is a knit, after all! And for most of us, it can be intimidating.

Come join us, along with our own Shannon Cuddle teacher, Mary, as we learn the “Tips & Tricks for Working with Cuddle.”

We will start with basic info on Cuddle, what tools will make it easier, how to minimize the Cuddle dust, and how to care for our finished projects. Then we will go over measuring, marking and cutting Cuddle, and how it differs from quilting cotton, and how to work with those differences.

Then we will make a Sew Simple Blanket. This project uses 2 pieces of Cuddle for the front and back. A print and a solid work well, or 2 pieces of the same fabric. Then we will use a coordinating Luxe Cuddle for the binding. Learn just how fast, easy, and forgiving Luxe Cuddle binding can be!

Once you have your blanket finished, use the remainder of our class time to work on another project! Have a Cuddle project hiding in your closet? Maybe you started it and ran into questions, or read the directions and didn't know where to begin? Bring it along to class! No W.I.P. (works in progress)? The best part about these bonus projects is they can be made with the remaining fabric from your Sew Simple Blanket!

For your bonus project, choose from:
Cuddle Baby Blanket • fast, simple, and uses the same techniques as the larger Luxe Throw. A great standby gift, as well as a learning project.
Sweet 16 Pillow • This fun little pillow is made using 16 squares that are 6” x 6” each. This project will involve piecing with Cuddle. If you choose this as your extra project, you may wish to increase your binding fabric, so you can use it in your pillow as well. I would get ½ yd. instead of ¼ yd.
Hotcakes Bearclaw  • QM also has the Hotcakes Bearclaw kit in stock – we could get you started on that!!
