Retro Kimberbell July 2021

This class is virtual, so as long as you're local, you can watch from the comfort of your own home or choose to come into the shop for the class. You must be local in order to participate, per Kimberbell's rules.

Join Lori as she gives you tips on each of the four projects this month. We're revisiting the past four years of Kimberbell's Dealer Exclusives, so if you missed any designs, now is the time to get them!

This class will be taught via GoToMeeting (similar to Zoom) so it's easy to participate and interact. It's also recorded so you can watch it at anytime. Bring your USB stick to class to get the designs OR drop off your USB stick before class so the designs can be put on it. Be sure to leave the stick to Lori's attention and note which format you need.

July's designs:

Lovebirds Tandem Bicycle Tote Bag
Was it a "bicycle built for two" that inspired the proposal to Miss Daisy Bell in 1892? She must have said yes, because the tandem bike has been a symbol of romance for more than one hundred years. Just like marriage, the technique takes cooperation and practice. Thank goodness machine embroidery isn't that much work! In this tandem design, little lovebirds look sweet perched on the bicycle seat and handles, and we adore the baskets of blossoms with fringe flowers too. Perfect for a picnic tote, you can personalize the design by adding your marriage or anniversary date.

You Are Loved Pocket Tag
This gift tag features a hidden pocket between two layers of felt where you can slip a gift card, movie tickets, money, or kind note--even jewelry! A perfect present by itself or use it to top a larger gift. The stitched sentiment, "You Are Loved," will make anyone feel special.

Sage Owl Oven Mitt
There are two definitions for the word "sage." One means wisdom and good judgment, as in sage advice. The other, a savory culinary herb popular in meat and poultry dishes. Take our advice and serve up a spicy dish for your family with these adorable owl oven mitts. In three sizes, for holding everything from a saucepan handle to a cast iron skillet, your fingers will fit just inside the wings. The owls are stitched with flannel and Kimberbell recommends a layer of insulated lining (such as Insul Bright, sold at Quilting Mayhem) and batting for use as a hot pad or oven mitt.

Gift Pockets: Get Well Soon and Thinking of You
These gift pockets are the perfect way to make someone's day! Stitch the Get Well Soon design with flexible foam and a sparkly bandage made of silver pink polka dot applique glitter. Then tuck soup packets, tissues, and/or other gifts inside the pocket, attach a small or medium sweet tube with decorative ribbon,  and give to a friend who is under the weather. The Thinking of You design features embroidered hearts inside of an applique thought bubble. Fill with goodies and gifts for anyone needing a bit of cheer!
